Greater Visibility for Women in Leadership

Female Empowerment at VIECON: Greater Visibility for Women in Leadership

VIECON Managing Director Martina Candillo is sending a clear message for equality and diversity in management. Since the beginning of 2025, she has been part of the three-person executive team and is committed to actively supporting women—especially in the event and congress industry, where female talent is often present but not always visible.

“I want to give women more space and actively support them in their professional development,” says Candillo. She speaks not only from conviction but also from personal experience as a working mother. Equal opportunity—regardless of gender or family situation—is a key success factor for her: “It’s not about preferential treatment, but about creating fair conditions for everyone.”

Equality as a Success Factor in the Event Industry

In many areas of the event and congress industry—such as marketing, project management, and sales—women are already well represented. The fact that this is now reflected at the executive level at VIECON is no coincidence, but rather a lived reality.
“We focus on competence and performance—regardless of gender,” says Candillo.

While technical departments are still male-dominated, those boundaries are starting to shift. More and more women are stepping into strategic and operational leadership roles. VIECON is actively driving this development forward—with a company culture based on openness, support, and empowerment.

Confidence to Lead: Candillo’s Message to Women

One of Candillo’s key goals is to encourage women to take on leadership roles: “Be confident, don’t underestimate yourselves, and don’t be afraid to be ambitious. Success doesn’t come overnight, but if you stay the course, you will reach your goals.”

Candillo sees strong potential for women in the convention industry in particular. Communication skills, organizational talent, and empathy are crucial traits in this field—ones in which women often excel.

Female Leadership at VIECON: More Than a Trend

At VIECON, female empowerment is not a buzzword—it’s part of the company’s strategy. With a diverse leadership team, targeted support, and a clear vision for equality, the company is making a tangible contribution to a more inclusive and future-oriented event industry.
