From April 11 to 15, 2025, the VIECON Center in Vienna became the global hub for experts in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The ESCMID Global Congress 2025 impressed with a top-tier scientific program, world-renowned speakers, and a large-scale event setup.
Bigger. More International. More Impressive.
Spanning four halls, the ESCMID Global Congress 2025 was twice the size of its last Vienna edition in 2017 – and the largest congress of the year at VIECON. Every part of the congress center was activated – not a single square meter went unused.
New room structures were created, entire halls were transformed, and everything was seamlessly connected by a smart wayfinding system. The result: an inspiring, smooth-running event experience at the highest level.
Experience That Makes a Difference
The flawless execution of an event of this scale was no coincidence. VIECON’s extensive experience in hosting international large-scale congresses truly paid off. The collaboration with ESCMID was marked by professionalism, precision, and mutual trust – as Simone Brüderli, COO of ESCMID, confirmed:
“The layout and size of the venue fit our needs perfectly. The building’s easy navigation was a real asset. And above all: the support from the VIECON team was outstanding – we are truly grateful and will remember it fondly.”
Creative Highlights with a Wink
In addition to high-level keynotes, symposia, and workshops, the congress featured creative moments that brought a touch of charm to the scientific atmosphere. One crowd favorite: a life-sized dinosaur in the mall area – wearing a personalized badge reading Dr. T. Rex – Scholar, Fossilton, Jurassica.
Another highlight was the elegant photo booth styled with an opera backdrop and Viennese musical instruments, offering guests a fun and memorable way to take a piece of Vienna home with them.
An Event to Remember
The ESCMID Global Congress 2025 set new standards – both scientifically and organizationally. We are proud to have been part of it and look back on a remarkable event that combined cutting-edge international research with Viennese hospitality and outstanding event expertise.
